It's the worst. I remember crying about it as a child if my favorite glass was broken. Things aren't much better these days when it happens, especially if it was a treasured dish.
I just shipped a lovely tiered dish to a customer that the USPS broke. It happens so very rarely, but even though it was insured, it can't be replaced... so very sad.

Uh-oh. It depends if you mean real broken dishes or metaphorical ones. The former can be replaced...
